“Know that I’m with you the only way that I can be, until you’re in my arms again-Remember me.”– “Remember Me” from Disney Pixar Coco
I absolutely love Coco. I have a video of two of my boys singing “Remember Me” when they were smaller and the movie had just come out, and it’s one of my most cherished memories, ever.
We started our Coco day a day early by making Conchas when we had a chunk of time in the afternoon. Conchas (Pan Dulce) take quite a bit of time- but they are delicious and so worth it. The boys loved starting our Coco day by dipping them in hot chocolate, and having some again while watching the movie.
After our morning routine of school and all that jazz, we made our Skeleton Jars/Luminaries. These are easy and very cool or decorate with when finished. The boys put them up for Halloween, and if you celebrate Dia de los Muertos- they are a great addition to decorations for both, in my opinion.
When the kiddos were watching the movie (and enjoying more Conchas), I made the Tamale Muffins on my own (for time’s sake). These are easy and delicious, and could be fun for a party in general. Traditional Tamales are a staple during many Mexican festivals and holidays, so it seemed right to do our Coco day with this recipe.
I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween! Did you do a family costume? Here are my three dragons (and princess… baby Groot…) at their best on Halloween!
